Leon was perhaps fortunate that he couldn’t see the look of irritation pass over the woman’s face, as she made no attempt to hide her discontent, and wouldn’t have done so even if her present company could see. A roll of her eyes and a clearly audible sigh of annoyance preceded her sudden movement forwards. Despite her desire to keep her distance, his obliviousness to what she had done for him, when she could have so easily just left him to deal with his own injuries, frustrated her. Suddenly, she shoved him. Not hard enough to harm him, but abrupt enough to knock him back a step. She stepped back quickly out of reach, and once he settled again, albeit certainly more wary now, she finally spoke again, a sure note of satisfaction mingled with the annoyance in her voice. “Your leg. How does it feel.”

The sigh made him tense, which perhaps was of benefit to him as he was suddenly being shoved, his wariness helping to catch him before landing into one of the statues that littered the floor.
“Oi! What-“
Leon’s question as to why he was pushed was cut short as his expression of confusion and frustration turned instantly into open-eyed surprise. He leaned on his injured leg, bounced on it a little, even touched the spot that had been hurting… all to confirm that it wasn’t hurting anymore.
It was about this moment of realizing what had happened that the goddess spoke again, helping to point out what she had done. Of all things, Leon felt a flash of embarrassment at having the gift being made so obvious, but it didn’t lessen his wariness. Especially not after having proved that he was dealing with a goddess and not a mortal.
“It’s… thank you,” he amended sheepishly, one hand going to the back of his head, the other uncertainly shifting on the makeshift staff even as a soft blush dusted his cheeks, in spite of the fact that he knew too many stories about the gods and their bipolar handling of mortals.

His reaction softened her own, perhaps largely due to his gratitude. Years of solitude had not weakened her sense of pride, after all. “You’re welcome.” She responded tersely, lifting her chin a little as she regarded him. Well, she was certain now. Her action of shoving him had elicited no aggressive response, like a coiled snake ready to strike. Instead he had almost lost his footing. Clearly, he was of no danger to her, and it appeared he really had come here alone. So… what now? A short silence passed between the two as she studied him, wondering on what she should do next, or if she should do anything at all. He had stumbled onto her island, after all, she hadn’t invited him here, and therefore whatever happened to him was not her responsibility. And yet… she felt invested in his wellbeing somehow. If he had just been another man sent to dispatch her, she would know how to react. Never had someone stepped on this island that did not wish her ill, - she was at a complete loss as to how to proceed.
“What is your name?”
The question came quite suddenly, as if she had been weighing up what to say next, and it had just occurred to her to ask. That was actually pretty accurate as to what had happened…

He waited, with growing concern, as the goddess once more went quiet. Knowing her to be immortal, his gaze even flitted a little about him in vain, as if expecting her to suddenly be on the other side of him. This, more than any other movement of his gaze, showed how truly blind he was.
The question made him pause, his raised hand having long since rejoined the other on the staff, not quite defensive but prepared. “Leonidas,” he replied, knowing better than to try and lie about something so basic to a god. Rather than immediately ask for her name in turn, however, he paused again, finally swallowing hard when the demand for him to leave wasn’t repeated. Yet.
“So… am I allowed to… to ask your… name?” he began hesitantly, still aware that she had helped him and not wanting to piss her off any more than he had already done.

Leon’s respectful and hesitant way that he framed the question was pleasing to her. Him doing anything other than trying to impale her with a sword- was pleasing to her, so it didn’t take much. Either way, she found herself softening towards him a little. It was ironic he was worried about what she might do to him, when that was exactly what she had been fearing about him- although of course, she was hardly about to admit such. She was still ready for the twist, ready to defend herself, even though all signs seemed to point to the contrary that he was anything other than what he appeared to be. But now there was something else consider… Leonidas meant lion; it was a significant name, representing strength, courage… and justice. A tiny flare of hope lit inside of her, daring to hope that maybe fate had led him here for a reason, and that reason was not what had led others.
“My name is Kallisto.” The title seemed grand, much too grand, and she was surprised to find that it left a sour taste in her mouth. It now seemed ill-befitting of herself, a Goddess fallen from grace, losing the majority of her power and left to rot on this god-forsaken island. So in a moment of spontaneity, she saw fit to change it. “I would prefer it if you just called me Kalli.”

Leon’s expression at the goddess’s name was one of curiosity, not recognizing it - unsurprising if she was a forgotten god - but he seemed confused as she went on. She… she wanted him to use a… a nickname? ‘Just’ Kalli?
What sort of a god was she?
“Uh… as you… wish, um… Kalli,” he said, uncertain, then waited, awkwardly. So, he wasn’t about to be cursed by this forgotten god, then… then what? Obviously, he couldn’t stay, he’d be of no use to a god and so was likely to be shooed out anyway.
“I… I thank you for… receiving me, but I do not wish to… to intrude in your temple,” he began hesitantly at first, growing more confident as he spoke. “So, ah, I shall leave you to… to… your solitude.” He bowed to her, at least attempted to, not at all sure where she was by then, and he turned to leave. Walking straight into the outstretched arm of another stupidly placed statue.
If not turning to stone hadn’t proven his blindness, nearly breaking his nose on the statue’s arm would quiet any doubts. He jumped back with a curse, hand to his face, feeling small but undeniable traces of blood from the accidental attempt to break his nose. “By Zeus’s…” he mumbled around his hand, the staff clutched tightly to keep his balance after the crash.

A tirade of emotions had crossed Kalli’s face as Leon voiced his intention to leave, perhaps the most curious being a trace of panic. “But it’s not s…” She had been about to say ‘safe’ when he had turned and crashed face-first into the statue- an action that would have been funny if it hadn’t clearly been so painful. Just as Leon was cursing, Kalli had waved her hand, removing the pain instantly, leaving just the blood behind for Leon to wipe away. “You shouldn’t say that.” She spoke sharply, sounding concerned as her golden gaze flitted heavenward for a moment, her hand on the shoulder of the statue standing between them, as if seeking protection from it. “It’s not safe.” Kalli reiterated, although it was not immediately clear as to whether she was referring to the idea of Leon leaving, or him using Zeus’s name to curse. “This… temple,” prison “… is old. It stretches for miles, and much of it is in disrepair.” She didn’t add that there was no way for the man to actually leave the island anyway, as there were no other people here, human or God. The wilderness belonged to the animals. This, he would find out soon enough.

Leon was momentarily confused when the pain suddenly disappeared, but remembered how Kalli had helped his leg before. His hand was still wet with blood, but at least the sharp pain was gone. He turned to try to ‘look’ at her as she spoke, wiping at the remaining blood with the back of his hand as he considered her words.
Not safe? That sounded… ominous.
“O-oh,” he managed to say in response to her explanation, nodding even though he was still confused by the situation. Leon obviously expected to be made to leave, with his disability hindering both his leaving and his usefulness to a god. He voiced this concern carefully, still not wanting to piss off a god who was so willing to help heal his injuries, minor as they might have been.
“So…” What now? “What do you… want me to do?”

She blinked a few times, silently, in response to his question.
What, indeed?
What use to her could a blind man be? Well, he would provide some company, although she would not admit such to the likes of him. Did he expect her to have orders for him because she was a goddess? Perhaps. Either way, she found herself at a loss, so instead, she turned the question onto him.
“What do you want to do?” She questioned, instead. Then, as further explanation, "I'm... not used to people coming here, not like you have. You are not a prisoner here, however. You can leave the temple if you wish during the day, but at night it's safer to stay inside."

Kallisto’s question drew an odd response, Leon’s eyes drifting down as he considered his answer. There wasn’t much thought to it, there’d been a reason he had gone on that ship in the first place…
Despite his wary behavior around the goddess, trying to avoid a lengthy death by pissing her off, he let out a soft, mirthless chuckle, remembering his morbid thoughts as the ship had left port.
Neptune can have me, if it ends this misery.
“I… I have no idea,” he admitted, looking more lost than shipwrecked. “I guess… I hadn’t really expected to be around long enough to… to think of anything.”
Who’d spend their time caring for a blind man? People had their own lives to lead, and he had no desire to be a burden upon another. That meant either being alone… or just, not being, anymore.

If he had the gift of sight, he would have seen a very confused look on Kalli’s face. “I don’t understand.” She commented, after a few moment's silence following his words. “So many men come here with great ambitions. They travel because they want glory, or to explore new worlds, or even just to prove themselves. Why would you travel with no purpose?” Much of this stemmed from her own private musings, not necessarily expecting an answer, but curious to hear what he would say all the same.

Leon had to admit it, he was surprised by the goddess’s words. In spite of the gods’ obsession with perfection, she didn’t come to the same conclusion as he. He smiled a little, but it was in the same tone as his earlier chuckle, shaking his head a little as he answered simply.
“What purpose can a blind man have? Even as a sacrifice?”

Kalli pursed her lips, not enjoying the man’s defeatist attitude, which was ironic considering her own. “Well… are you hungry?” She asked instead, changing the subject smoothly. She had no idea how to handle this human, but feeding him seemed a start.
